DNC… and my heart stopped for a second

Received an e-mail from one of my bosses a couple of seconds ago. It was titled: DNC procedure.

My heart stopped and flashbacks were running through my head. It stands for Do Not Call, not Dilation & Curettage… but those letters just have bad, bad memories. As I am practicing meditation I am learning to not let the thoughts affect me. Instead of hanging on to the negative thoughts and spinning on them, I observe them as they arise and as they pass. My mind is calmer and my heart happier. Hopefully those positive rays of energy are transmitted to the growing fetus. Because we’re one, the two of us.

55. What is something you would hate to go without for a day?

My little baby. They say I am 6 weeks along, although I’m thinking 5 since my cycle is a little longer than the regular 28. More like 35.  I don’t care how old she/he is. All I care about is that she is happy with me (somehow I think the fetus is a she).

Meal Offerings and Lack of Common Sense

Visits to the monastery are finally regular. Regular as in the past two weeks, and most likely every Sunday to come until April. The meditation class is small. Is me and my husband. So it’s basically like a personal meditation education. We have two nuns at our hands to ask all the questions we have. It’s enjoyable and a great learning experience. The nuns are sweet and invite us to meal offering and lunch after every session. We don’t say no. The meal offering is  my only way of singing out loud in public (my voice is not meant for singing, unless it’s in the shower or car) and the lunch is a great contemplation and continued spiritual journey.

40. What never fails to frustrate you?

People without common sense. Walkers, drivers, train-riders, anyone. Example: The other day a couple had a pick-nick on the train (Note: no eating on the train) and left a mess, which they themselves stated as they were leaving. If you noticed, why did you not clean up after yourself? It frustrates me when people take things for granted and not take care of them, like our transit system.

41. What are you known for by your friends and family?

My stubbornness and ever-increasing optimism. Well, among some anyway.

42. What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I have not yet gotten my wisdom teeth. And I am getting a tattoo. After I’ve given birth to a kid- an alive one.

43. What’s a common misconception people have about you?

That I want to sleep with them when I smile. I usually smile to be nice, that’s it. Many misconception in the past on that one. Now if someone looks as me as if they misinterpreted my lovely smile I frown- to make the point clear.

44. What’s something a lot of people do that you disagree with?

See #40 above. And here I was going to insert judging. But I judge just as much as the next person, so I won’t…
